The Garden City Republican Club will be hosting a meeting at 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Senior Center. The featured speaker will be Joseph Hall of Ameriprise who will give a timely update on taxes and finances. Authentic Greek delicacies will also be served. Nick LaPoma of CurveBreakers will be at the library to administer a practice ACT exam from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. He will grade the exams and return to the library on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. to review individual practice exam results. He will also give a lecture on how those results can be improved. Register for one session and you are automatically registered for both sessions. The confirmation email will note the Jan. 21 date. Chronic Pain Support Meeting
Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy hosts a Chronic Pain Support Group Meeting on the third Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at 800 East Gate Blvd. in Garden City. You are not alone and are invited to join the group and share information and strategies for dealing with chronic pain. The meeting is free of charge and refreshments will be served. Trip To Westbury Manor
Garden Ciy seniors will take a trip to Westbury Manor for lunch and a performance of Plaza Suite performed by Plaza Theatrical Productions. Participants will travel on the recreation bus for this trip. The cost of this trip will be $30, playable by check only to Plaza Theatrical Productions. Payment must accompany registrations. Space is limited, so please register early. Please note, once the fees are sent to the venues, they are not refundable so make your selections carefully. Time For High Tea In Garden City
Queen Victoria made afternoon tea a national pass time. It was a time that friends and family got together to enjoy each other and fine food. On Saturday, Jan. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m., Garden City’s Unitarian Universalist Congregation will be hosting a Victorian Tea event. Participants will be able to enjoy delicious tea sandwiches, scones with jellies and clotted crème, cookies and a variety of hot teas while being entertained by pianist Joe McAuley.
