A 90-year-old man was struck and killed by an alleged drunken driver in the victim’s hometown of Jamesport on Tuesday night, Riverhead Town Police said.
Diane O’Neill, 65, of Farmingville, was driving her Mercedes on Main Road when she allegedly hit a pedestrian, George Kurovics, shortly after 7 p.m., police said.
Kurovics was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators found O’Neill to be intoxicated and placed her under arrest, police said.
O’Neill was charged with driving while intoxicated. She will be arraigned at Riverhead Town Justice Court.
The case was referred to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, which will determine if additional charges will be filed, police said.
