Board of Education Meeting
The next meeting of the Farmingdale School District Board of Education will be held at 8 p.m., on Jan. 14, at Howitt Middle School, 70 Van Cott Ave. in Farmingdale.
3-5 Parent Workshops
On Jan. 14, parents with students in grades 3-5 are invited to Saltzman East Memorial School, at 25 Mill Lane in Farmingdale, from 6-7:30 p.m. for workshops on the state ELA and Math curriculum.

Community Summit Meeting
The next meeting of the Farmingdale Community Summit will be held at 7 p.m., on Jan. 15, at the Farmingdale Public Library.
PAL Youth Lacrosse Registration
On Jan. 15, boys and girls interested in registering for the Farmingdale PAL Spring 2015 Lacrosse Season can sign up, from 7-9 p.m., at Howitt Middle School, 70 Van Cott Ave. in Farmingdale.
There will be no late registration or wait list. New registrants should also bring a copy of their birth certificate. Cost is $135 for grade 2 registrants and $165 per player for students in grades 3-8.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day
On Jan. 19, all schools and offices in the Farmingdale School District will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

On Jan. 20, join the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce after hours, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Library Cafe, 274 Main St., for this business card swap and networking event. No cover charge. High School PTA
The next meeting of the Farmingdale High School PTA will be held on Jan. 20, at 7 p.m., in the high school library.

Welcome To The New Year Celebration
Bring in the new year with the Melville Chamber of Commerce, on Jan. 21, at the Colonial Springs Golf Club, 1 Long Island Ave. in Farmingdale, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., featuring special guest speaker Huntington Town Councilwoman Susan A. Christian Band Red Words
On Jan. 24, contemporary Christian rock group Red Words will perform at the JC Cafe at Farmingdale United Methodist Church, 407 Main St. Doors open at 7 p.m. Show starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. and includes complimentary coffee and desserts. There is a suggested donation of $5.
Members of Red Words have shared their faith by blending vocals and lyrics with keyboards, rock guitars and drums with audiences in local coffee houses, cafes and music festivals, including Jones Beach.
