Gravity

Gravity_122714BThere’s an exciting new way to keep your New Year’s fitness resolution. Gravity In Motion, which teaches proper, precise, purposeful movement patterns in a state of the art functional, open-turf training facility, officially opened its doors at Dany Holdstein Two World Dance and Fitness (DHTW) studios, home of the HUB fitness concept in Greenvale’s Wheatley Plaza. With a focus on performance, balance and strength training, combined with athletic movement and agility exercises, Gravity In Motion is designed to help the athlete in all of us achieve maximum results.
Gravity In Motion is the brainchild of former American Natural Bodybuilding’s Mr. Jr. USA Dave Concannon, a professional fitness and sports performance coach, who has trained athletes at all levels, including being the Strength and Conditioning Coach for two-time Heavyweight Champion of the World, Shannon Briggs.
The new program entails “working out with a purpose, not dealing with a circus of random exercises,” as Concannon likes to say.
In addition to being an owner/
operator at Gravity In Motion and the director of fitness at Two Worlds Fitness, Concannon holds a BS in Phys Ed/Exercise Science and is certified from the American College of Sports Medicine as an Exercise Physiologist, IMG Academy as an Ignite 360 Sports Performance Specialist, IYCA as a Youth Speed and Agility Coach, TRX in Group Suspension Training and in Functional Movement Screen, Level-1.
Since 1988, DHTW’s team of dedicated teachers and trainers has provided a supportive, personalized environment in which their clients can dance, work out or train. Offering a gym that is fully equipped with the latest in cardio and weight-training equipment, DHTW has been designed to meet the needs of anyone—young or old—hoping to maintain a healthy lifestyle, while having fun and learning new skills. The HUB concept: all of your fitness wants and needs in one community location.
Dance classes are also available for adults and children, ranging from ballet and tap to jazz and hip hop. If dancing’s not for you, ongoing classes that run the gamut from Insanity to kickboxing will definitely help you shed unwanted pounds. “The important thing is to get motivated and keep moving,” said Dany Holdstein. “Our goal is to provide our clients with a supercharged environment that will keep them happy, healthy and inspired.”
Recently, the popular Long Island fitness company HotRyde, which was founded by Janell Baker and Lisa Motti, launched their eagerly anticipated indoor cycling program, POUND classes, and Barre and TRX fitness classes at DHTW. According to HotRyde fitness director Jennifer Ellwood, “indoor cycling is a great way to challenge yourself with others on hand to motivate you.” HotRyde does this in a unique way, providing one-on-one attention and offering the option of RealRyder bikes (which tilt and turn) or straight “Ryde” on a stationary bike, like in traditional spinning. Either way, you’re sure to sculpt, lengthen and tone with their widely popular POUND classes, Barre classes, TRX classes and Cardio Core classes. There’s truly something for every fitness buff.
