New Line Party President Rick Maher announced that Mineola Mayor Scott Strauss is the party’s choice for re-election as mayor in the upcoming village elections on March 17. The party also nominated village trustees George Durham and Dennis Walsh as their candidates for said position.
“Mayor Strauss, trustees Durham and Walsh have truly done an outstanding job for the residents of Mineola,” Maher said. “Our parks are being rebuilt, upgraded and improved. Downtown Mineola is going through smart growth that will continue to make Mineola the most desirable place to live in Nassau County. Roads are being rebuilt, new state-of-the-art equipment has been purchased for the DPW department, services to senior citizens are outstanding, our recreation facilities and fields for MAA and PAL are the envy of every sports team that visits Mineola.”
Strauss is seeking his third term as mayor. “I am grateful for the confidence and support I am receiving from friends, neighbors and residents to seek re-election,” said Strauss. “The village is at a critical point with development and infrastructure upgrades, all of which are having positive effects.”
Durham is seeking his third term on the village board and expressed his appreciation for the support to seek re-election.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed the past four years serving the residents of Mineola,” he said. “I support Mayor Strauss and his initiatives to improve our village and maintain the firm fiscal ground we are on.”
Walsh stated, “This is a very exciting time to be on the Village Board and I take pride in being a part of the great future Mineola will experience. It is a pleasure to work with Scott and George and I look forward to working with them going forward.”
The New Line Party has scheduled a fundraising event for Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at Piccola Bussola on Jericho Turnpike. Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased at the door.
