Planning Board
The next meeting of the Farmingdale Planning Board will be held at village hall, 361 Main St., on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

3-5 Parent Workshops
On Wednesday, parents with students in grades 3-5 are invited to Northside Elementary School, at 55 Powell Place in Farmingdale, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for workshops on the state ELA and Math curriculum.

Family Reading Night
On Thursday, Northside Elementary students and parents can join the Farmingdale Public Library, 116 Merritts Rd. in Farmingdale, at 7 p.m., for family reading night.

TMB Model Train Show Open House
On Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 1, join the TMB Model Train Club, 120 Schmitt Blvd. in East Farmingdale, from noon to 4 p.m., for their annual open house. This year’s event features eight train sets operating on six tracks that run continuously on underground, ground and elevated levels. For more information visit www.tmbmodeltrainclub.com.
Ladies Craft Day
The Farmingdale United Methodist Church is hosting a Ladies Craft Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Do you have any neglected craft projects calling out from under your bed or closets? Have you wanted to try your hand at making something new? Do you just need an excuse for some girl time? There is no cost for this outreach event so grab your projects (if you have them), a snack to share and your favorite girlfriends. If you do not have a project, members will teach you how to rubber stamp a greeting card (no supplies required). The church will also set up a Dump Table where you can donate unused craft materials to share with others.

Knitting Bowl
Infinite Yarn, 34 Hempstead Tpke. #3B, is hosting a knitting benefit during regular business hours. The store will be suppling yarn, and customers can bring in design ideas. Cake Decorating Class
The Chocolate Duck at 310 Main St. is hosting a wedding cake decorating lesson from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
The class is a professionally taught course for those who have prior experience in cake decorating and want to jump to the next level. Christina Bisbee, owner, provides individual instruction in the following much requested flowers: roses, stephanotis, carnation, orchids, hydrangea and buds. The class is $195. February Luncheon
The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce is hosting a meeting on Thursday at Dominican 4 Restaurant, 305 Main St., Farmingdale, at noon.
Attendees should bring their business cards. All members present will be entered into a drawing to win either “Featured Member of the Month” on the chamber website, a spotlight in the newsletter or a banner on the chamber’s website for one month.
Admission is $23 for members and $28 for non-members. Payment will be collected at the meeting. Cash, checks (made payable to Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce), or charge. For planning purposes, RSVP at www.farmingdalenychamber.org.
Strings Festival
The Farmingdale All-District Strings Festival is taking place on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Farmingdale High School.
Grades 5 to 12 will join together for a finale. The snow date is Monday, Feb. 9.

Bereavement Support
St. Killian Roman Catholic Church is offering bereavement support group on Friday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for parents who lost their baby. The support group will consist of sharing and mutual support with others parents who have experienced similar losses. Registration is not required. The group is free, with no dues or fees.
