There’s a new leadership team at Roslyn Rescue Fire Company and they have already made significant changes and improvements to this longtime Roslyn institution.
Peter Liotta is Rescue’s newly elected president. East Hills residents Scott Fishkind and Sal Mirra, both of who serve as trustees, round out the leadership team.
Liotta and Mirra are both professional firefighters with the Fire Department of New York City, while Fishkind’s has 16-plus years of fire service and business management background.
That experience is already paying dividends. In just three months, the threesome has made forward-looking changes that improve the fire department’s ability to serve Roslyn and its surrounding communities. Newly integrated training props, life-saving devices for the members and vehicle performance, are just a few of the improvements that they have employed.
In the near future, they are working on newer methods of dispatching calls with the integration of mobile applications, a new firehouse in Greenvale on Locust Street, green technology to cut back on electricity consumption in their facilities and a streamlined technology database connecting all of the department’s operations within one system.
Liotta, Fishkind and Mirra have brought new excitement and energy to the future growth of the Roslyn Rescue Fire Company. They are always available to answer questions, or address concerns.
The department, Fishkind added, is “always looking for new members to join their department.” For information, call 516-621-3899 or log onto www.roslynrescue.org.
