Students at Brookville Center for Children’s Services were all smiles as they vigorously mixed together ingredients alongside Chef Lidia Bastianich.

Lidia Bastianich, a renowned chef, restaurateur, author and host of the famous cooking show Lidia’s Italy, visited Brookville Center’s autism program for an afternoon of sweet treats.

As part of her participation in Cooking Light magazine’s “Bake it Forward” campaign, Bastianich baked for Brookville Center over the holidays.

Wishing to personally deliver a baked good and visit with the students, Lidia coordinated a visit to Brookville’s Campus. The chef has been consistently visiting Brookville Center for several years.

“Many of our students have an interest in cooking,” noted Autism Program Supervisor Sherry Black. “The students thoroughly enjoyed getting involved and Lidia has a way of connecting with our kids.”

After preparing some homemade whipped cream, students enjoyed their hard work topped on the apple and apricot tart with apricot jam prepared by Bastianich.
