Dix Hills School Bus Crash Sends 28 to Hospitals

Two dozen high school students and four adults were taken to local hospitals after a school bus  was involved in a collision with a box truck in Dix Hills on Friday morning.

Suffolk County police said the bus—coming from Copiague High School on its way to Wilson Technical Center—was heading eastbound on Seaman Neck Road when it was struck by a southbound truck at the corner of Deer Park Avenue shortly before 8 a.m.

The 24 students on the bus, the bus driver and an attendant were all taken to local hospitals as a precaution and for minor injuries, police said. The truck driver and his passenger were also treated for minor injuries at local hospitals.

Motor Carrier Safety Section officers impounded the bus and the truck while the investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing, police said.
