Every year on Super Bowl Sunday, the Long Beach Polar Bears host the annual Polar Plunge to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For Island Trees eighth grader Jack Rochanakit, it’s an annual tradition to be a participant in the Polar Plunge.
Prior to the event, Rochanakit worked with the National Junior Honor Society to sell bracelets, which they raised approximately $1,000 to be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and recruit students to join him in taking the plunge.
On Feb. 1, several members of the Island Trees National Junior Honor Society and their fellow classmates from Memorial Middle School, joined the thousands who braved the frigid temperatures to plunge into the freezing cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Special thanks to the members of the ITMMS National Junior Honor Society and advisors, Mrs. Nieves and Mrs. Harouche, for supporting such as worthy cause, and to the students, staff, families, and friends for donating to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and for taking the plunge benefiting such an important organization.
