Congratulations to Mitch Gould of Woodbury, who scored as the third finisher overall in the inaugural Lincoln’s Birthday Marathon at Eisenhower Park on Feb. 12.

The 43-year-old Gould crossed the finish line in 1 Hour, 32 minutes and 23 seconds.

The half marathon and accompanying full marathon were conducted on a 5.274375 kilometer loop course entirely within the grounds of Eisenhower Park.

Not many races on Long Island attract runners from as far away as Qatar, England, the United Arab Emirates and Brazil, but the inaugural Lincoln’s Birthday Marathon and Half Marathon did just that. The event was the fifth stop on the Triple 7 Quest. More than 30 runners in the field of 132 finishers were part of the Triple 7 Quest that started in Melbourne, Australia on Feb. 8, headed to the UAE, Paris and Tunis before reaching Eisenhower Park, and left Long Island to finish up in Chile and Antarctica.

It was a beautiful Winter day that appeared in the midst of some pretty terrible February weather, and runners from near and far traversed either four or eight loops of an eclectic Eisenhower Park course.
