This year, the Nassau County Museum of Art is celebrating its 25th anniversary. And to commemorate the happy event, the museum is presenting Out of the Vault: 25 Years of Collecting.
The exhibit will run from Saturday, March 21 to Sunday, July 12. It represents the museum’s first comprehensive exhibition of works from the permanent collection. The presentation highlights patrons’ numerous gifts to the museum over the last quarter century that have never, or rarely, been exhibited.
Each gallery space within this multifaceted presentation will focus on different themes such as past and present portraiture, great traditions in paintings, postwar prints and vintage posters of many eras. Exploring a diverse range of artists that are strongly represented in the museum’s collections, this exhibit includes works by naturalist John James Audubon, photographer Larry Fink, as well as pop art icons Marisol Escobar, Robert Indiana and Larry Rivers, plus past and present portraiture.
The museum is at One Museum Drive, Roslyn Harbor. It is open Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Call 516- 484-9338, ext. 12 to inquire about group tours.
