Police Pinch Perv

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, a police briefing was held in the press room of the Nassau County Police Headquarters at 1490 Franklin Ave., Mineola in regards to the recent arrest of Andrew A. Andrew A. QuattroneQuattrone, 32 of Lindenhurst for Attempted Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance.

Inspector Kenneth Lack, Commanding Officer conducted the briefing.

According to detectives, on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 3:05 p.m. a Quattrone approached two girls, 14 years of age, in the parking lot of King Kullen supermarket located at 4900 Merrick Road in Massapequa Park. He showed the girls a box of condoms, asked them if they would like to be in an adult video with him and showed them pornographic pictures on his phone. The girls began to walk away at which time he asked them to reconsider making a video. The girls then ran to a nearby store and called police.

An investigation identified Quattrone as the suspect and he was placed under arrest without incident in the King Kullen lot.

Quattrone is charged with two counts each of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance (Attempt), Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Solicitation 3rd degree. Quattrone was taken to the hospital by Lack before his scheduled arraignment on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at First District Court in Hempstead, where he claimed illness.

“Quattrone’s history of convictions dates back to 2004, including charges of disorderly conduct, harassment, and possession of weapons,” said Lack. “He had a similar arrest in 2009 for attempting to use a child in a sexual performance.”

However, Quattrone was not convicted and could not be registered as a sex offender as he did not meet enough criteria to be on the list. According to Lack, the determination of registering someone as a sec offender is determined by the State Legislature.
