Sophia Ramcharitar, a sophomore at Floral Park Memorial High School, has been accepted to the Junior Statesmen Summer School at Princeton University.
Floral Park Memorial’s Model United Nations adviser Deborah Francis recommended Ramcharitar for the prestigious academic and leadership program, which includes staying on campus and partaking in college level political science and speech courses.
Ramcharitar will attend a Speakers’ Program, where she will interact with leaders who make and influence public policy. In addition, she will participate in a leadership and debate program, spending her summer immersed in high level political discussions with a diverse group of students.
Ramcharitar chose this program because of her exposure to global issues in the Model United Nations program and her desire to pursue studies in International Relations. She is interested in Princeton University’s program in public policy and international affairs.
