Founder’s Day Nominations
The Island Trees PTA Council will once again be sponsoring a Founder’s Day Celebration on Thursday, April 30 at the Council of PTA’s District Dinner. The Island Trees PTSA plans to honor a teacher/staff member from Island Trees Memorial Middle School and Island Trees High School. A special committee will select winners. The criteria for the award recipient are as follows: Promotes the welfare of students, strives to secure for his/her students the highest advantages in physical, mental and social education and has an open line of communication with parents. Please submit your recommendations to ITPTSA Founder’s Day Committee, Attention: Maureen Dieppa, by Friday, March 6. All recommendations must be signed and anonymous letters will not be considered. Movie Man Matinees
The East Meadow Library will host film historian, preservationist and authoritative collector John Carpenter in another of his much awaited monthly Movie Man Matinees. From his vault of over 40,000 films, Carpenter will unearth for modern re-evaluation the Mae West classic Goin’ To Town, where she yearns to be accepted as a lady by the lords and ladies of English society. This fun, free afternoon begins at 1 p.m. and is complete with a follow the bouncing ball sing-a-long cartoon. For more information, call 516-794-2570 ext 218.
Chinese Auction
Division Ave High School PTSA is holding a Chinese Auction and a sweeps game night on Friday, March 6 at Division Avenue High School, 120 Division Ave, Levittown. Doors open at 6 p.m. for sweeps games. Admission to sweeps game is $5 a person and includes game card, door raffle ticket, desserts and coffee/tea. Craft: Windsock

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner
The Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church will host a traditional St. Patrick’s Day dinner at 6 p.m. The menu will consist of corned beef, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, Irish Soda Bread, beer, coffee, tea and desserts. Tickets are $25 per person (over 21 years of age—no children). The church is located at 1845 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh. There is plenty of free parking in the municipal parking lot behind the church. Rockin’ For Autism
Come to Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh at 3 p.m. for a can’t miss performance with Long Island’s best rock-n-roll bands to benefit children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities at the eighth annual Rockin’ for Autism. Purim Party with a Purpose
East Meadow Jewish Center’s Sisterhood and Young Adult Division (YAD), invites you to the fourth annual Purim Party with a Purpose. The Purim event is geared toward children under 5 years old. Popular performers Darlene Graham, Clowns.com/Professional Kids Entertainment and others, are generously donating their time and talents. There will be arts & crafts, facepainting, silent auction, raffles and more. All proceeds raised will go to worthy causes identified by two local families who suffered the unimaginable loss of a child. Proceeds in memory of Adam Lefkowitz will go to a foundation created by his family for Degos awareness and research, in addition to assisting the family directly. From 10 a.m.-noon at the East Meadow Jewish Center, located at 1400 Prospect Ave., East Meadow. Cost is $20 per family.
