Rugby, one of the world’s most popular sports, has its presence on Long Island with the Long Island Colts Boys’ Rugby Club. Registration is currently underway for rugby participants, in all age groups from seventh through twelfth grade for the club.
High school and middle school rugby is a winter/spring sport played on weekends using a football-size field.
A game of rugby typically lasts 60 minutes and all athletes play offense and defense. Every player has an equal opportunity to make a tackle, pass a ball, punt, run and score a touchdown, called a try.
Free tryouts are now ongoing. For information, call 516-491-3761 or visit www.lirugby.com.
