Jericho High School students Erica L. Busch, Sy-Wei Ho, Danny Huang, Taylor Y. Kang, Gene Lee, Bryan Lei, Ien Li, Grace Mok, Rameel S. Rizvi and Eric Joseph Wildstein were recently recognized as National Merit Scholarship winners and each are the recipients of a $2,500 Merit Scholarship.
These students were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 finalists in the 20154 National Merit Scholarship Program. These scholars were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors, who appraised a substantial amount of information submitted by both the finalists and their high schools: the academic record, including difficulty level of subjects studied and grades earned; scores from two standardized tests; contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay written by the finalist; and a recommendation written by a high school official.
“In Jericho, we encourage our students on all grade levels to balance academic achievement with participation and leadership in both school and community activities,” said Superintendent Hank Grishman. “All of these young men and women serve as exceptional role models to other students in our district.”
