Carolyn Crisafulli Donohue, 79, passed away Saturday, March 7th, 2015 at her residence on Skidaway Island in Savannah, GA. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late William S. and Mary Camilieri Crisafulli. Carolyn, or Cris as she was known by most of her friends, was a graduate of Schreiber High School in Port Washington, NY and Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. Carolyn and her husband Bill lived in Manhasset for 35 years where she volunteered for the SCA, among other local organizations, and worked as a business manager for the law firm of Fletcher, Dunne, Sibell and Migatz.
Carolyn was a member of the garden club, book club and an avid bridge player. She loved to travel and visited such far-flung countries as Vietnam, Cambodia and China as well as Turkey, Greece and her beloved Italy, among many others; was a passionate crossword puzzle cruciverbalist (she would love that we all have to look that up!); could play UpWords and Banagrams endlessly with her friends and family; and never missed an episode of Jeopardy, on which she was a contestant for the original pilot back in the 60’s.
Carolyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who truly enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, and especially her grandchildren, who benefitted from many trips to NYC museums and shows with their “Nana.” She had a vibrant personality and was described by everyone around her as a force of nature. She will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest brother, Richard Crisafulli.
Surviving are her husband, William P. Donohue of Savannah; daughter Mimi Donohue of Manhasset, NY; son William Donohue, Jr. of Old Greenwich, CT; brother Stephen W. Crisafulli of Santa Rosa, CA; and six grandchildren, Michael Anderson, Paul Donohue, Megan Anderson, Sean Donohue, Mark Donohue and Caitlin Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to support lung cancer research. Please call William Donohue at 912-349-3291 or email william.donohue12@comcast.net for further information.
