Hydrant Flushing Continues

The Village of Mineola Water Department will continue its hydrant flushing for Mineola water customers south of Jericho Turnpike and north of First and East Second Streets on March 25 and 26. Village officials announced last week that flushing would ensue from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Customers affected by this scheduled maintenance have received a flyer distributed to all affected locations.

“Hydrant flushing is important to maintain our water system,” the village said in a statement. “Thank you for your patience during this important process.”

As a precaution, Mineola officials suggest that you refrain from washing your clothes during this time, check water quality after flushing hours by running the cold water tap and if it appears discolored, run the water until it clears. If the water does not clear within a few minutes, contact 516-746-0751.

Officials say you should consider shutting off your refrigerator ice maker temporarily while the flushing occurs.
