It takes a great and varied committee to plan for the Garden City Chamber of Commerce’s Pineapple Ball gala “celebrating the alliance and vitality of business and community. Considered to be Garden City’s premier business and social event of the season, a series of planning meetings are in process leading up to the ball’s 13th anniversary. The gala will be held on Friday evening, May 8 at the Garden City Hotel.
The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of awards to four extraordinary individuals. They include Vinny Muldoon, “Citizen of the Year”; Robert Cunningham, recipient of “The Community Achievement Award”; “Patrick Longo, “Business Person of the Year”; and Dr. Robert A. Scott, recipient of the “President’s Award.” The Chamber Foundation, its charitable arm, will also present the “Althea Robinson Excellence in Business Education Scholarship Award” to Garden City High School senior Dana Aprigliano.
Back this year by popular demand will be the renowned Alex Donner Orchestra, whose goal is to create a ball that is musically magical, fun and exciting. Also in the planning and new this year will be a live auction in addition to the traditional silent auction boasting an array of amazing prizes along with a 50/50 Raffle. Proceeds will benefit both Chamber community programs and the charitable missions of the Chamber Foundation.
