Former Mineola Chief (2003-08), Teddy Capsis of East Williston has signed his national letter of intent to accept a full athletic scholarship and play football at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, MA in the fall. Holy Cross is a Division-I college that plays in the Patriot League.

Capsis began his football career with five years of tackle football while playing for the Mineola Chiefs as a youth. After two years of middle school football, he then went on to Chaminade High School and was a starting defensive lineman during his junior and senior years.

During his senior year, Capsis was also used as a fullback on offense. His head coach at Chaminade was Steven Boyd, a former Detroit Lions All-Pro linebacker. His defensive line coach at Chaminade was Joe Horan, a former Hofstra standout football player.

Capsis and Chaminade were 2013 CHSAA Football AAA Finalists and 2014 CHSAA Football AA Champions. He was selected to the CHSAA All-League team and was a Captain of his Chaminade team in his senior year.

Capsis recorded 87 tackles (55 solo) and 10 quarterback sacks during his varsity career at Chaminade. He also has lettered in track and field and baseball for Chaminade.

Capsis is a member of the National Honor Society. During his Chaminade football career, Capsis was lucky enough to be reunited with two of his Mineola Chief teamates Thomas O’Dwyer of Williston Park and Thomas O’Connell of Carle Place.
