The Vine Wine Bar, located at 2259 Merrick Rd., Merrick is welcoming the public to its fourth annual fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Thursday, April 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. in honor of the late Judy Mione, who died in April 2011 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was the mother of The Vine Wine Bar owner Lynn Mione.
Judy, a loving, single mother of three, was a longtime supporter of St. Jude who requested donations to the hospital in lieu of flowers or other memorials. Her difficulties in coping with her own disease and her love for children combined to fuel her anger and frustration at the thought of children having to deal with serious health problems…or worse.
A source of unwavering support and inspiration to her daughter in the establishment of The Vine Wine Bar and The Vine Wine Cellar, Judy was also known for her pioneering efforts on behalf of women. She was honored by the National Organization for Women (NOW) as a Woman of Courage in 1997.
Admission to the event is $50 per person and includes hors d’oeuvres and of course, wine. All of the proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
In addition to this event, both The Vine Wine Bar in Merrick and The Vine Wine Cellar in Massapequa will participate in the 2015 St. Jude Give thanks. Give Hope. campaign and will accept donations throughout the month of April on behalf of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Because of organizations like these and their patrons, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food, so they can focus on what matters most–Doc1 helping their child live.
