Baldwin Crash Leaves Driver Dead

A 42-year-old man died after he crashed his car, causing it vehicle to burst into flames in his hometown of Baldwin over the weekend.

Nassau County police said Gregory Balmir was driving a Toyota Camry southbound on Grand Avenue when he crossed over two lanes of traffic at the corner of Woodside Avenue, where he crashed into a utility pole and a building shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
