Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto recently announced that the Town of Oyster Bay is joining forces with LIMBtastic in proclaiming the month of April to be “Upper Limb Differences Month.”
Jennifer Quinn, President and Founder of LIMBtastic, was on hand to accept the proclamation, along with her 4-year-old son Aiden, who was born with an upper limb difference and has already had nine surgeries.
“Children like Aiden need to know they have the communities’ support,” said Quinn. “I thank Supervisor Venditto and the Town of Oyster Bay for everything they have done to get the word out about our important mission.”
LIMBtastic is a Long Island based organization founded for children with upper limb differences. This organization offers support, shares information and raise awareness about the issues faced by these families.
“LIMBtastic is a charitable organization dedicated to showing support for children who were born with missing hands, fingers or arms,” said Venditto. “It is a tremendously worthy cause.”
The group will be celebrating Upper Limb Differences Day by urging local residents to participate in a unique awareness and fundraising walk at Babylon Town Hall on Saturday, April 18, beginning with registration at noon for the 1 p.m. walk. Prior to the walk, there will be plenty of fun activities for families to take part in. For more information, call 631-505-3648.
Venditto also noted that advocacy and increased awareness were both extremely important to advancing LIMBtastic’s mission of helping families meet their unique challenges.
“It is the town’s intention to join with LIMBtastic to let these children know that we all care,” he said. “It is equally important to let affected parents know they are not alone in their efforts to make better lives for their children.”
