Hang Up And Drive

CASA_040815B

Manhasset CASA, SCA and Manhasset Public Schools invite parents, caregivers, students (grades 9 to 12) and the community to Hang Up & Drive presented by Jacy Good and Steve Johnson. This program will address the dangers of texting and driving and how distracted driving has become a national public safety crisis. The event will take place Thursday, April 23 at Manhasset HighCASA_040815A School at 7 p.m.
Distracted driving for teens is dangerous and life threatening! A recent AAA research study of 1,700 teen drivers found that distraction was a factor in 58 percent of all crashes studied. This is in sharp contrast to previous estimates by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which estimated distraction as a factor only 14 percent of the time (AAA, March 25, 2015).
Since Good’s miraculous recovery from a crash caused by a distracted driver, she and her husband Steve have worked to educate the country about the dangers of cell phone use behind the wheel. Good has been on The Oprah Winfrey Show, a guest of Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon at the United Nations, a “Hero Among Us” in People Magazine, a speaker at Maria Shriver’s Women’s Conference, on NPR’s Car Talk, and featured in dozens of articles, television news pieces and press conferences nationwide. In January, Good was profiled on CNN’s The Human Factor.
