The Art Guild’s “Home On The Range, Landscapes We Love,” exhibit will be on view through Sunday, April 26. The exhibit, showcasing 39 artists and 58 artworks, celebrates the landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes that make our hearts sing—from backyards and gardens to majestic mountain vistas. Many styles and mediums are represented.
First place was awarded to Diana De Santis for her pastel painting “Bus Drivers’ Bocci Game at Dusk.” Second place was awarded to Marciel Kazickas for her oil painting “Looking East.” Third place was awarded to Linda Giacalone for her oil painting, “September Trees.” Honorable mentions went to Kirk Larson for his oil painting “Cold Spring Church,” Shelli Robiner-Ardizone for her pastel painting “Sullivan County Sunrise,” and Gia Schifano for her oil painting “The Little Bridge.”
“It was a very difficult job to judge this show. There were many wonderful and surprising interpretations of the landscape, which made the job that much harder,” said Jane McGraw-Teubner, the show’s juror of awards. “I take this responsibility very seriously, with clear criteria for my choices. This criteria involves the following: the work must have energy, technical skill, mastery of the medium, atmosphere and harmony, and the ability to reach to the viewer on an emotional level.”
McGraw-Teubner has achieved the honored rank of Master Pastel Artist, awarded by the Pastel Society of America. She is also on the board of directors for the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and a resident artist in the Salmagundi Art Club in Manhattan.
