gold-coast-logoA big, exciting opportunity awaits all young filmmakers in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Youngsters are encouraged to produce their own film and see their work shown at a real movie house, on the “big screen” in a movie theatre in front of a live film festival audience. This Fall, on the fifth anniversary of the Gold Coast Arts Center’s 2015 Gold Coast International Film Festival presents the Young Filmmakers Program’ This will give budding young film makers will give youngsters that chance. The Gold Coast Arts Center (formerly the Great Neck Arts Center) will showcase the best in youth film making from this region. There is no fee for a youngster to submit a film.

Submission guidelines are the following: all films (including credits) are limited to five minutes; film must be PG in content; fill out the Young Filmmaker submission form; films can be shot on any format, but production values should be as
high as possible, including sound and picture; video must be high resolution format, 1920×108; all films will be judged by a panel of film making professionals.

Judges will accept films of all genres. Films can be: a documentary; a narrative (must tell a story or have some narrative structure); may be a PSA or TV commercial (maximum length two minutes); an animation; or an original music video.

Films will be judged in three categories: students in Kindergarten through sixth grade; students in grades seven, eight and nine; students in 10th through 12th grade (multiple awards given in this category).

Winners will be announced on
the GCIFF website in mid-October.
The awards ceremony will be held during the 2015 Gold Coast International Film Festival (date and time to be announced).

fill out the Young Filmmaker submission form; follow instructions for how to send the film (uploading it to our FilmFreeway account, sending us a vimeo link, or delivering us a playable DVD, with sound).
