Every dog knows the value of a long, relaxing stretch. How about you?

May 16th is your chance to “Get Down with your Dog” and learn – or practice – Yoga in the Park.

Certified Yoga Instructor Shari Thompson, Co-owner of Yoga Life, will lead an outdoor class for people and their dogs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 pm at the Sands Point Preserve’s Great Lawn. The $20 fee for the class, which includes refreshments, will go to The Shelter Connection, a non-profit volunteer organization that helps support the care and training of dogs at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter.

“I feel honored to be part of this community and the Shelter,” said Thompson, “and to do whatever I can to bring awareness to the incredible work happening there on behalf of our 4-legged friends.”

Canines should come to the class on a non-retractable leash. Humans should bring a yoga mat. All yoga enthusiasts are welcome, no dog required.

The Sands Point Preserve is located at 127 Middle Neck Road. In the case of inclement weather, the event will take place on Sunday, May 17.
