The spring varsity sports season is in full swing; many young athletes have distinguished themselves and some were chosen by the Oyster Bay High School coaches as Athletes of the Month for April.
“Girls varsity softball would like to honor seniors and third-year varsity players Madison Albert and Michelle Morris as Athletes of the Month for April,” said head coach Tim Brady. “This season Madison and Michelle are part of our ‘leadership group’ and have provided valuable guidance to our younger first year players. Classified as ‘complete players,’ Madison and Michelle hit at the top of the order as catalysts to our offensive attack. Both Madison and Michelle star on the other side of the ball as well providing strong team defense up the middle in centerfield and shortstop. Madison and Michelle are both multi-sport varsity athletes here at Oyster Bay High School and will be on to new challenges in life upon graduating in June.”
When asked about his pick for athlete of the month April, golf coach Dan Petrie said: “I would like to nominate Seve Corradi for athlete of the month. Seve has entered the 2015 golf season playing at a new level. He has a terrific work ethic and love of the game. Seve is beloved by his teammates and always willing to lend a helpful hand. As coach of the Oyster Bay Golf team I am happy to have a student athlete who shows such promise for the future.”
Boys’ varsity tennis coach Glen Steinberg picked four players as his athletes of the month.
“The boys varsity tennis team is off to a 5-0 start with a strong group of underclassman,” said Steinberg. “Amongst the team are seventh-grader Anthony Trivic, eighth-grader Michael Biggiani, ninth-grader Caleb Archdeacon, and 10th-grader Alex Gelabert. Collectively these players are a combined 20-0 to start the season. They are part of a dedicated group of enthusiastic players that have been integral to the success of the program this year.”
