After successful scores in the 2015 American Mathematics Competition and the AIME National Mathematics contest, Syosset High School freshman Wanlin Li has been invited to take the 44th USA Mathematical Junior Olympiad Exam (USAJMO).
Only the top 200 performers out of more than 35,000 students nationwide earned a spot to sit the USAJMO. The test is a six-question, two-day, nine-hour essay/proof exam and the third exam in a series of tests determining which students can participate in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). The IMO is the most prestigious and difficult secondary math examination in the world.
The top 12 scorers out of the original 200 students that sit the USAJMO will be invited to a summer program held at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At the end of the summer program a six-member team will be selected to represent the U.S. at the IMO held this year in Thailand.
