Final Dr. John A. Gable Lecture Series

The Friends of Sagamore Hill will present this spring’s final John A. Gable lecture on Thursday, May 21, beginning at 7 p.m. in Christ Church Parish Hall. Susan Sarna, museum curator at Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, leads a PowerPoint presentation on the rehabilitation of President Theodore Roosevelt’s house—from the planning, packing, and implementation phases of the project to the re-installation of furnishings. Memorial Day Parade

The Quentin Roosevelt Post #4 of the America Legion will hold their 96th annual Memorial Day Parade at 10:30 a.m. The parade begins on South Street, Adams Street and Burtis Avenue, continues on East Main Street to Ship Points Lane. St. Francis Hospital Outreach Mobile Bus

The St. Francis Hospital Community Outreach Department will be conducting free health screenings on their mobile bus at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. These screenings include a brief cardiac history, blood pressure reading, simple blood test for cholesterol and diabetes, with appropriate patient education and referrals for adults above the age of 18. In addition to cardiac screens, they are also offering free PSA screens to men over the age of 50 (40 with risk factors) and education and self-examination demonstration for both breast and skin cancer. No appointments.

Dirt Cake

Create a flower and submerge it in a pot filled with a cupcake, pudding and crushed up cookies with the baking coach. Garnish with a worm, enjoy with a spoon. Members of the Long Island Craft Guild’s Glass Media Group are exhibiting their works in Ancient Art Form: Contemporary Adaptations in Glass, open now through June 7 at the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s Koenig Center at 20 Summit St. in Oyster Bay.

Food Pantry
