Glenn P. McDonald, a 1978 Paul D. Schreiber High School graduate, passed away on March 7, 2015 from complications suffered after surgery. A proud former resident of Port Washington, Glenn lived in Holtsville, NY with his beloved wife Barbara and devoted teenage sons Zachary and Scott. After earning his B.A. degree from Hofstra University in 1982, Glenn quickly embarked on a highly successful career in the technology industry. Beginning locally with Port Washington companies Aristo and Publisher’s Clearing House, Glenn then joined King Kullen Grocery Company, Pan American World Airways, On-Line Software International, Computer Associates International and finally CA Technologies in Islandia, NY. For 24 years, Glenn was an extremely well-liked, highly regarded and deeply respected associate at CA, serving most recently as Senior Principal Product Manager.
Glenn was known around his hometown and beyond as always being a positive and capable man, constantly lending his helping hand to friend and stranger alike. Glenn had many passions – playing Frisbee, cycling, cars, airplanes, travel, movie making, and photography – which he documented on his website www.glennmcdonald.com. He will be missed by countless family members, associates and friends around the world – especially his sisters Linda Nibert of Oyster Bay (Richard), Carole McDonald of Port Washington (Paul Gilmour) and half-sister Diane Blackmore of Maplewood, NJ (Denis) as well as nephews Sean, Dylan, Gregory and John.
Predeceased by his nephew Christopher, as well as parents Thomas and Gloria McDonald, Glenn was laid to rest on March 14, 2015 near his father and mother in Locust Valley Cemetery after a Catholic committal prayer service conducted by Father Robert Romeo formerly with St. Peter of Alcantara Church in Port Washington.
