On May 2, Eagle Scout candidate Christian Pollich of Troop 96 in Wantagh installed several sections of wooden walkway he built at the main entrance to Tackapausha Preserve’s hiking trails.
The preserve is an 84-acre nature sanctuary with five miles of marked hiking trails nestled between Seaford and Massapequa, adjacent to the Tackapausha Museum. The walkway that Pollich built makes it possible to cross over this section of trail, which stays very muddy for a week or two after heavy rains.
The project was sponsored by the Nassau County Department of Parks and supervised by Richard and Lisa Schary, who represent the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference.
