Men’s Health Seminar

Men and their loved ones are invited to attend a seminar on how to improve their health and lifestyle by attending Winthrop-University Hospital’s 2015 Men’s Health Seminar. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Garden City Hotel on 45 Seventh Street in Garden City. The seminar will include a number of lectures and workshops addressing prostate cancer, BPH, sexual dysfunction, bone health and the benefits of physical activity and general nutrition. The morning session will involve scheduled lectures and panel discussions intended for all attendees. Parallel tracks of workshops are being offered in the afternoon, with an opportunity for attendees to choose which sessions they would like to attend. Participants will also be encouraged to engage in interactive “Ask the Doctor” sessions. Women are welcome to attend, as feedback from last year’s seminar requested lectures that would benefit female attendees. These topics include female cancers, nutrition and relaxation techniques. The fee for the event is $50 per attendee and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. For questions concerning the event, contact Joanne Constantini, meeting coordinator at 516-663-9615 or jconstantini@winthrop.org. To register or for a complete list of speakers and the agenda for the day, please visit www.menshealthseminar.com.

The club will meet on Saturday afternoons from 2 to 4:45 p.m. in the computer lab on the lower level of the library, located at 60 Seventh St. Each lesson will build upon the previous lesson so attendance at each meeting is strongly encouraged. The curriculum includes monthly project-based activities and the opportunity to build real-world software including mobile apps and games. No prior experience in coding or programming is necessary. The girls will learn basic coding and programming including variables, loops and conditionals. There is no cost to participate in the club but the club size is limited to the first 20 girls who register. Please register at www.gardencitypl.org. Registered participants will be expected to attend all sessions. Please bring your library card with you to each meeting.
