The Greater Long Island Running Club is hosting a special clinic on “Training for the Fall Racing Season,” which will feature a distinguished panel of experts on all phases of running.
The clinic will be held on Tuesday, June 16, in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Rd. at 8 p.m. The general public is cordially invited to attend and admission is free.
The panel of experts giving Long island runners the benefits of their years of expertise will consist of: Jodie Robertson, the overall winner of the 2014 Runner’s Edge Long island Women’s Run, who has qualified for a chance at the U.S. Olympic Team as a marathoners at the 2016 Olympic Trials; Brendan Barrett, a former All-State high school runner and captain of Sayville’s 2000 NY State Champion team, and a member of the Notre Dame cross country and track squads, who is presently the owner of the Sayville Running Company; Deborah Blair, the head coach of the Nassau County Run Smart and Run Start programs; Ed Melnik, head coach of the Greater Long Island Running Club’s Track Program; Bob Cook, co-head coach of the DIVA Running Program and Long Island Tri Coach and presently owner of The Runner’s edge; and Dr. Steven Jonas, New York State Chiropractor of the Year specializing in the treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of sports injuries.
The panel will answer any and all questions that anyone may have.
“There is no better way that a local runner can start to prepare himself or herself for successful and injury free running than by participating in this Clinic,” stated Greater Long Island Running Club Vice President Mindy Davidson. “The folks who make up this panel know what they are talking about and will be giving everyone the benefit of their years of hands on experience.”
