I would like to thank the Pilot for the excellent article that was written about the ribbon cutting ceremony, A Brush with History. It is nice to receive recognition about the importance of the creative arts to our community.
Carol Waldman, director of the The Glen Cove Senior Center, initiated A Brush with History event. She is passionate about the well-being of all of our seniors and has done a magnificent job in making the Glen Cove Senior Center one of the best centers on Long Island. It gives me great pride to have my paintings hung in the community dinning room for the enjoyment of the members and guests.
If it was not for the generosity of the SAGE foundation, my paintings would not be available to the seniors. The foundation was instrumental in recognizing the impact this project would have on the seniors. Many people have approached me and talked about the memories these paintings have evoked and how much they have meant to them. There is no reward greater than to have an artist’s work make a positive impression. Carol Waldman, with the help of her staff, gave careful thought to the planning of this event. As a result, the 100-plus people who attended had an enjoyable and informative afternoon.
I was humbled by the kind words that Mayor Spinello of Glen Cove, Mayor Durkin of Roslyn, Mayor Ryba of Old Brookville and the many speakers expressed. My heartfelt thanks goes out to Carol Waldman, the SAGE foundation and the staff of the Glen Cove Senior Center for making this a truly memorable day for me.
