Levy New GN Officials’ Head

Village of Saddle Rock Mayor Dan Levy now heads the Great Neck Village Officials Association (GNVOA). Sworn in at the annual GNVOA dinner meeting on Wednesday evening, June 17, Levy takes over from Village of Great Neck Mayor Ralph Kreitzman, who stepped down following a two-year term as GNVOA president. Levy, who became mayor of Saddle Rock more than five years ago when then Mayor J. Leonard Samansky became ill, pledged to just as faithfully now lead the nine villages.

Levy then praised his colleague Kreitzman, who helped Levy ease into his position as mayor, sharing a wealth of vital information.

During the evening at Great Neck’s Shish Kabob Restaurant, many echoed Levy’s words as they lauded Kreitzman for his years of leadership in the community and beyond. The congregated group of officials expressed sadness, as Kreitzman will no longer serve as a village mayor. The GNVOA presented Kreitzman with a plaque to commemorate his “leadership, dedicated efforts and selfless service to the Great Neck peninsula.” His fellow GNVOA members and friends called Kreitzman “an effective advocate for village government.”

Nassau County honored Kreitzman with a citation, presented by Great Neck’s County Legislator Ellen Birnbaum. The citation, which honors “individuals who exemplify integrity and commitment,” is reserved for those who ”provide outstanding contributions for the benefit of the county.” The county certificate also noted Kreitzman’s long public service to the Village of Great Neck, his service as Nassau County Village Officials Association, where he also served as president, and his time spent as an executive board member of the New York Conference of Mayors.

Regularly scheduled monthly informational meetings of the GNVOA will resume in September, for public officials only.
