In the spirit of the “Poetry in Motion” project on the buses and trains in London and New York City, the students of Mrs. Valente’s and Mr. Lynch’s English classes wanted to capture the attention of the middle school community and enlighten an ordinary day with the power of poetry. The students chose an extensive collection of poems and decorated the middle school building with poetry in some likely and unlikely places. The poems have made people laugh, think, and inspired the writers of Roslyn Middle School to write poetry of their own. “During the hustle and bustle of our daily lives,” said Mr. Lynch, “We often miss the simple beauty around us – the poetry that is everywhere.”
