Board Of Trustees Meeting

The board of trustees, will hold a special meeting at village hall at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2. This meeting will be regarding the fire department renovations and for such other business as may properly come before the board.  It is also anticipated that following the public meeting, there will be an executive session to discuss a matter of personnel. It will be held in the boardroom at Garden City Village Hall located at 350 Stewart Ave. For more information, call 516-465-4000.

Independence Day—The Fourth Of July

Retail sales will be prohibited in the village between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. Certain exceptions are restaurants, delicatessen items and alcoholic beverages. In observance of Independence Day, municipal offices will be closed on Friday, July 3 and will reopen on Monday, July 6.

Marvelous Movie Matinée

A screening of the 2009 thriller Law Abiding Citizen starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Garden City Public Library. The event will be held in Meeting Room B. For more information, call 516-742-8405.

Jumping Frog Craft With Donna Green Of A Time For Kids, Inc.

Come to the library at 11 a.m. and make a craft during the program Jumping Frog Craft with Donna Green of a Time for Kids, Inc. This fun program is for children ages 2 ½ to 5 and an adult caregiver. Registration is required and began on Eventkeeper (www.gardencitypl.org). Each child needs his or her own library card to register for the program. For more information, call 516-742-8405.

Superhero Clock Craft With Shirley Ruby

Make a Superhero Clock Craft with Shirley Ruby at the library. This fun program will be held at 11:45 a.m. for children entering Grades k to 2 in fall 2015 and at 12:45 p.m. for children entering grades 4 and 5 in fall 2015. Superhero Robots

Registration began June 17 online on Eventkeeper for Superhero Robots to be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Science Teacher Chris Buchman will show YAs how to make working robots modeled on Super Heroes. This program is limited to 24 YAs. For more information, call 516-742-8405.

Family Storytime Under The Stars

All are invited to join the staff of the Children’s Room at the library for Family Storytime Under the Stars. This is a family program for children ages 2 ½ through grade 5 and their families. Registrants are encouraged to bring their own blankets, towels, or chairs to sit on outside. If you are late, your spot may be given to someone on the wait list.
