Artie Techie
The transcendental visions seen by true artists know no boundaries or mediums. Forget tradition. Forget the paintbrush. This is 2015, and the machines which have proliferated throughout the past several decades to control our lives in so many ways are manipulated at this fantastical exhibit to bring forth these magical realms, translate these dreams and provide the kaleidoscopic window required to open our’ hearts and touch our souls. A variety of image-making methods from across the technological spectrum were utilized to achieve this extraordinary feat, ranging from camera-generated images and prints to completely computer-generated images so clear and real and vivid that they resemble actual drawings and paintings. How these dastardly machines can deceive! Oh, how these mechanical overlords can twist and bend and summon pure beauty! Astounding! Don’t be fooled, however, dear visitors. Don’t be bamboozled. Though these mechanical contraptions have enabled these precious creators to birth these gorgeous, enigmatic works, always remember that it is the spirituality of the human being that is the true conduit and filter. And it is we humans, who must, and will, ultimately prevail. An opening reception will be held for local artists’ works being exhibited after winning a juried art show titled “Artie Techie.” Main Street Gallery, 213 Main St., Huntington. huntingtonarts.org Free. 6 p.m. July 10.
