Rep. Steve Israel endorsed Madeline Singas for Nassau County District Attorney, praising her extensive courtroom experience as a prosecutor and her proven record of putting violent criminals behind bars.
“Madeline Singas is a committed prosecutor with 24 years experience in the courtroom,” said Rep. Steve Israel. “Nassau County needs a tough and aggressive District Attorney to protect its communities, families and seniors. Madeline’s extensive career locking up violent criminals and putting drug dealers behind bars makes her the best candidate for Nassau’s hard-working families. I am proud to give her my endorsement.”

Congressman Steve Israel represents New York’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is the sixth ranking member of the House Democratic Leadership, serving as Chair of Policy & Communications. He also served as Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee from 2011-2014. His district includes the Gold Coast of Long Island, spanning from Northeast Queens in the West to Smithtown in the East.
Madeline Singas was sworn in as Acting District Attorney in January 2015, following the departure of Rep. Kathleen Rice, under whom she served as Chief Assistant since 2011. Singas began her career as a prosecutor in 1991 and has over two decades of courtroom experience. Since joining the Nassau County District Attorney’s office in 2006, she has successfully prosecuted some of the county’s most notorious violent criminals and served as Chief of Nassau County’s Special Victim’s Bureau. She is a graduate of Bronx Science, Columbia University, and Fordham University Law School.I
