Hempstead Boy, 15, Fatally Hit by Unlicenced Driver, Cops Say

A 15-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle in his hometown of Hempstead over the weekend died two days later. The driver involved was issued a summons, Nassau County police said Wednesday.

Ka-Juan Polley was riding his bicycle southbound on Cameron Avenue when he was struck by a westbound vehicle at the corner of Front Street at 8:48 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The victim was taken to Cohen Children’s Medical Center/North Shore Long Island Jewish in New Hyde Park, where he later died of his injuries on Monday, police said.

The driver, whose identity police did not release, was issued a summons for driving without a license.

Homicide Squad detectives impounded the vehicle.
