

Long Island’s speediest women congregated in Farmingdale on July 11 to compete in the Runner’s Edge Long Island Women’s 5 Kilometer Run. Several athletes from the Massapequas were among those winning awards.The top local finisher was Angela Cruz of Massapequa Park, who was the 29th runner overall to cross the finish line on the track at Farmingdale High School. She took fourth place honors in the 35-39 age group with a finishing time of 21 minutes and 29 seconds.

Other local award winners included Geralynn Kreba of Massapequa (fifth, 45-49 age group, 23:21), Monica Enright of Massapequa (fifth, 50-54 age group, 21:53) and Ruth Maller of Massapequa who placed first in the 85 and over age group with a finishing time of 1:01:17.
