New Street Banners Installed

Newbanners_072915AThe Mineola Village Board announced that new street banners have been installed throughout Mineola. The new banners depict artistic renditions of recognizable Mineola buildings, old and new, that most residents can easily identify. The professional artwork was volunteered by Gina Mehling, an art teacher at Mineola High School, with banner design by Mineola resident Lisa Dalfonso.

The banners replace the previous blue and orange banners which were installed in 2006 in celebration of the Village of Mineola Centennial.

“I’m proud that volunteers from within our community took the lead in designing these banners,” Mayor Scott Strauss said. “I am particularly grateful to Lisa and Gina for their invaluable assistance and to Deputy Mayor Paul Pereira in coordinating this entire effort. This was a great team effort by all.”

The banners have been placed along roadways throughout Mineola. Strauss noted that the previous banners were nearly 10 years old and were worn, frayed, faded and in some cases, missing entirely.

“This is just one more way that we can help beautify our village and display our community pride,” said Strauss.
