Adult Programs

Thursday, July 30 at 6:30 p.m. Spice up your ordinary dinner time with foods from exotic India. Join Penn Hongthong as she shares recipes and tastings of a variety of delicious Indian foods including Basmati rice and cabbage fritters.

The History Of Superhero Movies
Monday, Aug. 3 at 6:30 p.m. Using film clips and stills, film historian/author Clive Young explores 80 years of super-powered cinema, tracing the evolution of the superhero from Saturday-morning serials to today’s box-office blockbusters.

Crochet Connection With April Diane
Saturdays Aug. 8, 15, 22, and 29 at 10:15-11:45 a.m. Adults and children may create beautiful pieces while learning the art of crochet in a series of beginner and experienced level crochet classes. You will need size d-k crochet needles and any color worsted weight yarn. Please register at the Reference or Ext. 2.

Saturday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. Enjoy a breathtaking slide show with adventure photographers Mary and Theresa Dinh as they take you on a photographic journey to the coldest, iciest, and driest continent on Earth—Antarctica.

Escape The Ordinary Reading Club
Saturday, Aug. 22. Pick up a Road Map to Escape the Ordinary and complete three mini-reviews for books you read or listen to based on the various categories from the map. Submit your completed Road Map page to be entered into prize drawings.

Rhonda Denet And The Silver Fox Song Trio
Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. Save the date. Join Rhonda Denet and The Silver Fox Song Trio for their performance of “From Jazz to Soul.” Their program will feature a mix of jazz and soul hits from the 1930s to the 1960s, including classics by Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, and other music legends.

Mineola Library 2015 Summer Reading Clubs
In-person only sign-up starts ends Saturday, Aug. 22 at the children’s desk (sign up is continuous throughout the summer). “Super Sidekicks” @ Your Library-Summer Reading club for babies ages birth through 2. “Every Hero Has a Story” @ Your Library-Summer Reading club for children ages 3 through entering fourth grade. “Unmask!” @ Your Library-Summer Reading club for tweens and teens entering 5th grade through entering 12th grade.

Sully Molloy The Therapy Dog
Saturday, Aug. 8 at 2:30 p.m. All ages may sign up to attend. Come meet “Sully Molloy,” a Newfoundland therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International, and his handler/owner, Joe Molloy. Learn about what a therapy dog does, how to raise a therapy dog and pet this gentle giant.

Baby Sign Language 1
Wednesdays July 29 at 11 a.m. Children ages birth and up with an adult may sign-up to attend. Limit 15 families.

Preschool Fair
Saturday, Aug. 1 from noon to 3 p.m. All ages, no registration required. Stop by any time to meet and talk with representatives from local area daycare, nursery, and preschool centers.

Mrs. Bee And The Buzz About Bees
Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. Students entering Grades 1 and up may sign up to attend. Beekeeper Moira Alexander will present interesting facts about the honey bee. Children will have a chance to try on beekeeper equipment, taste two different types of honey, touch and smell products of the hive and much more.

LEGO Builders Club
Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. Kindergarteners and upper grades may sign-up for all three sessions. Create unique structures with LEGO pieces and meet with others who love to LEGO.
