Monday LIRR Train Incident

trainThis statement is from Sal Arena, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Transit Authority, about this morning’s (August 17th) incident.

“A few minutes before 11:30 a.m., the LIRR’s 10:49 a.m. train from Penn Station, due Port Washington at 11:35 a.m., struck a 66-year-old woman at Great Neck.  She was taken alive to North Shore-Manhasset Hospital in an unknown condition.  LIRR Port Washington Branch service was suspended between 11:55 a.m. and 12:19 p.m. The incident is being investigated as a possible suicide attempt.”
