ESOL, Equivalency Classes

schoolrank_82615If you’re an adult who wants to learn English, improve your English-language skills or earn a high school equivalency diploma, the Great Neck Public Schools Adult Learning Center offers a variety of classes designed to meet your needs.

A range of English-language classes, from beginning literacy to advanced English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), are offered. In preparation for the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) examination, formerly known as the GED, classes are available to improve math, social studies, science, reading and writing skills.

Once enrolled, students may also take elective classes, such as Conversational English, Crossroads Café and Citizenship at no additional charge.

Registration for classes must be completed in person at the
Adult Learning Center, 105 Clover Dr. Registrants should allow two hours to complete the process. Registration for Trimester I will be held only on Wednesday, Sept. 2, and Thursday, Sept. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon and 6 to 9 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. Preference will be given to Great Neck residents and returning students.

The annual, nonrefundable processing fee is $35 for those who live or work in Great Neck (proof of residency or Great Neck employment must be submitted at time of registration), and $75 for nonresidents. Payment, at the
time of registration, can be made in cash or by credit card, check or money order payable to Great Neck Public Schools.
