A woman was sentenced last month to two to six years in New York State prison after admitting she caused a crash that killed a 37-year-old man in Coram three years ago.

Michelle Gass, 25, of Coram, pleaded guilty July 9 at Suffolk County court to vehicular homicide, according to court records. The charge carries a maximum sentence of up to 25 years in prison.

Police have said Gass was driving a Ford northbound on North Ocean Avenue when she struck an eastbound Nissan at the corner of Old Town Road shortly before 6 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012.

Gass, the other driver, 18-year-old Hector Marmol, and his passenger, Ramon Genao, both of Port Jefferson Station, were all taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where Genao was pronounced dead shortly later.

Gass was released from Suffolk County jail on $50,000 bail the day after she was arrested in January 2013, according to the sheriffs department.

After she was sentenced, she began serving her time in Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, a maximum security womens’ prison in Westchester County, and will be eligible for parole on July, 7, 2017, according to the state Department of Correctional Services.
