Apple Songs for Fall

At the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, for kids ages birth and up, with adult. Join Dara Linthwaite and her guitar as we sing songs to welcome the season. Registration began in August for OB-EN residents and begins on Sept. 2 for non-residents, space permitting.

Movie At The Library

See Water Diviner at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. After the Battle of Gallipoli, an Australian man travels to Turkey to find his three missing sons. Spend Friday nights at Ransom Beach, 11 Bayville Ave. in Bayville, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Spectators are free, or the cost is $5 to show a car. Labor Day Concert

The Friends of Cedarmere will host a special concert of American music in the Great Room at Historic Cedarmere House, in Roslyn Harbor, followed by a community pot-luck picnic on the beautifully restored and maintained grounds. A concert, “From Rivers To Sky,” commemorates the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War and marks the name centennial of Samuel Barber’s famous Knoxville: Summer of 1915. Featured musicians are Boston-area mezzo-soprano Penny Lazarus and acclaimed metro-area soprano Patti Dunham, with Cedarmere Board of Director’s own Paul Baserman at the piano. The music continues informally outdoors where the a cappella group “The CedarSerenaders”—singers Cosette Carlomusto, Abbey Hunt, Matt McGill and Josh Epstein—will entertain picnickers with old-time favorites. Cruise Night

The weekly Cruise Night on Audrey Avenue concludes this week. The event starts at 5:45 p.m. Live entertainment and great restaurants in the area.

Hooks and Needles

Tuesday nights from 7 to 8:30 p.m., sit, knit and chit-chat with the ladies who knit at the Bayville Library. Knit or crochet your own item or one to be donated. New members always welcome.

Jump Bunch

For ages 18 months to 3 years (with adult) at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Enjoy a fun, age-appropriate introduction to soccer with an obstacle course and bubbles. A wonderful way to practice eye/foot coordination and listening skills. Nonresidents may register the day before a program, space permitting. Register in person or call 516-922-1212.

Movie At The Library

See Far From the Madding Crowd at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Carey Mulligan stars as a headstrong Victorian beauty in this sweeping romantic drama, based on the literary classic by Thomas Hardy. Mulligan plays Bathsheba Everdene, an independent woman who attracts three different suitors: a sheep farmer; a dashing soldier; and a prosperous, older bachelor. This timeless story of Bathsheba’s passions explores the nature of relationships, love and resilience. Free Concert On Village Lawn

A free concert will be held on the Village Lawn in Bayville from 6:30 to 10 p.m., sponsored by The Friends of the Library. Enjoy an evening of classic and southern rock with The Dead Mile Dance Band in front of the library.

Grenville Baker Clothing Sale

Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club is asking all residents to clean out your closet for a cause. GBBGC’s Annual Clothing Sale will be taking place this fall, Oct. 2 to 8. Intake began Sept. 1 and lasts through 19. Drop-off hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon. This year, clothing drop-off will be on Elm Street, which is at the far end of the club field, across from the Locust Valley train station. A tent will be set up to accommodate all donations. Food Pantry

The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St., Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community. It is open on Tuesdays 11 a.m. to noon. If you are in need of their services at other times, please call Pastor Diane at 516-922-2547 and make an appointment to complete their screening process.

Hats Off! Exhibition

Hats Off!, the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s summer exhibition, is currently on view in the society’s Angela Koenig Center at 20 Summit St. in Oyster Bay, through Sept. 13. Hats Off! An Assembly of Extraordinary Headwear from the Society’s Collection features men’s and women’s hats from the 20th century, along with athletic gear and military helmets. The American Hot Rod

Collector Car Showcase (CCS), the only museum/showcase devoted to automotive memorabilia, Petroliana, and vintage cars in the metropolitan New York area, has an exhibit, The American Hot Rod, on display through Oct. 31 at the 18,000-square-foot facility at 85 Pine Hollow Rd. (Route 106) on the southern approach to this historic North Shore Long Island Gold Coast hamlet. The Petroliana museum, as car aficionados liken it, is open to the public daily from Tuesday through Saturday. It will feature a number of award-winning hot rods that have captivated audiences nationwide and are on loan to Collector Car Showcase for this special and rare exhibit.
