A Westbury man was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 6:45 p.m. after threatening an elderly member of his extended family.
According to detectives, Gabriel Taveras, 33, of Lion Lane, verbally threatened physical harm against a 62-year-old female member of his extended family and her family. The defendant was arrested on Lion Lane; he resisted arrest and received a minor injury to his wrist. The defendant was treated and released for a sore wrist. The investigation led to officers receiving a court ordered search warrant of the defendant’s home where multiple rifles, a handgun and ammunition were recovered.
Taveras is charged with one count second degree criminal possession of a weapon, four counts third degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count Obstructing Governmental Administration, and aggravated harassment. He was arraigned Thursday, Sept, 10.
